Commander (President)
Andrew D. Kullberg, class of 1983, L Company. After 20 years of active duty service in the Air Force, Andy is a retired Lt Col. He served as a command pilot and navigator flying B-52s, C-141, and C-5 aircraft. During the Cold War he flew B-52s in the nuclear deterrent role. He also flew combat support missions during Operation Just Cause (Panama), the Persian Gulf War, and the Global War on Terrorism. He served on the Joint Warfighting Staff in Korea as a staff officer as well. He retired from active duty and is serving as a Department of Defense Civilian at Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Randolph AFB, TX.
Executive Officer (Vice President)
Matthew L. Crabbe, class of 1983, T Company. Matt is a retired Lt Col that served in the Air Force. He served as a master navigator in the KC-135 aircraft on worldwide operational missions to include the Cold War, Persian Gulf War, and the Global War on Terrorism. He also served as a flight instructor and evaluator. Matt also commanded a Basic Military Training (BMT) Squadron at Lackland AFB. He served at the Major Air Command, Air Staff, and Joint Staff levels and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He retired from active duty and is serving as a Department of Defense Civilian at Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Randolph AFB, TX.
Adjutant (Secretary)
David M. Anderson, class of 2001, K Company. David majored in Civil and Environmental Engineering and held an Army ROTC Scholarship. Upon graduation, he served as an Air Defense Officer at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. David was deployed to serve in combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism. He is a Real Estate Broker and owner of Cactus Bloom Properties, Inc.
Past Commander (President Emeritus)
Willie H. "Billy" Watson, class of 1971. As a cadet, Billy was a quarterback, defensive back, receiver and punt return specialist for The Citadel Bulldogs football team, and an outfielder on the Bulldog baseball team....earning letters in both sports for all years. A leader in the insurance business, Billy is a senior partner in Watson, Mazur, Bennett & Strauss LLC in San Antonio. He and his wife Sally, also own and operate Mesquite Pass Farms in Seguin, TX, where they breed, raise, sell, and own race horses. Billy served as the Alamo Battalion Commander for over 20 years.
Membership & Officers
MEMBERSHIP: All San Antonio area alumni of The Citadel are encouraged to join The Alamo Battalion. There are 4 types of membership: Regular, Associate, Special, and Honorary.
Regular Members: Any graduate of The Citadel, former cadet, or veteran student is eligible for Regular Membership. Contact any member to join. Former cadets or veteran students are eligible provided they were completed at least one academic year and were honorably discharged. Only Regular Members have voting rights.
Associate Members: Any parent or sibling of a cadet or graduate. Any person that is a member of The Citadel faculty or staff.
Special Members: Cadets from the local area or those visiting the San Antonio area. This classification is upgraded to Regular Member upon receipt of The Citadel class ring during a cadets' senior year.
Honorary Members: These members do not have to be Citadel alumni, as determined by The Citadel Alumni Association.
OFFICERS: There are approximately 100 Citadel graduates in the San Antonio area. The Alamo Battalion is organized in accordance with the "Blue Book" with a Commander (President), Executive Officer (Vice President), and Battalion Adjutant (Secretary). Other officers such as Citadel Volunteers, and Provost Marshall are appointed as needed.
Battalion Commander (President): Presiding Officer at meeting, lunches, socials, or other events. Provides leadership and direction for the club. The immediate past President of the Alamo Battalion is an ex-officio officer and will be granted the title of President Emeritus of The Alamo Battalion and serve as the special advisor to the President.
Battalion Executive Officer (Vice President): Assumes the duties of the Battalion Commander during his/her absence. The primary advisor and deputy to the Commander.
Battalion Adjutant (Secretary): Maintains the official Alamo Battalion Register of Graduates, rosters, and keeps records as needed. These files and contact information to be used for networking, recruiting, and other related functions.
Citadel Volunteers (Recruiting Officers): Works in conjunction with The Citadel Recruiting Office. They visit local high schools, College Fairs, and meet with prospective cadets and parents. These volunteers are critical to the future of the college by attracting the best and brightest men and women in the local area to apply to The Citadel.
Battalion Provost Marshall (Parliamentarian): Ensures proper order and decorum are maintained at all meetings.
